My name is TillyLou James and I’m a Chartered Physiotherapist, and a yoga teacher, and the innovator of the Buttafly Effect for back care, in addition to being a Lifestyle Prescriptions® Health Coach.
Back Pain is my specialist area. In addition to individual treatments, I’ve developed an 8-week programme BODY MIND BACK that offers a holistic approach to back pain relief and long-term spinal health.
Both physical and emotional factors determine the health of the spine and posture correction, exercise, and manual therapy only address part of the equation.
Accessing the “emotional aspects” – the parts that are tucked away at the back of our mind and also in our subconscious is more tricky, especially for people to do on their own.
The Buttafly Effect refers to the release of the spine that occurs as a direct result of positioning the Buttafly in supine lying to free up the sacrum and coccyx.
It taps into the natural intelligence of the body and invariably elicits an emotional response as well as a physical one. In itself, this can help people to appreciate that the body and mind work as one.
Lifestyle Prescriptions® is evidence-based and seeks to find the root cause of “dis-ease”. You may be saying “but my problem is a slipped disc” or “I ripped all the muscles lifting weights”. Simply put, all chronic symptoms are multi-factorial. The body has an innate capacity to heal – if healing is not taking place, we have to find out why and take positive steps to address that.
